Let’s talk about your charity, the Dare to Dream Foundation. What prompted you to start the charity? What’s been its most rewarding aspects?

It’s my baby. It was something that I had visions and dreams of starting when I was in college. I saw what my older brother (Washington Redskins wide receiver Santana Moss) was doing in the community and I had the opportunity to help him when I was still in college. Education was always big in my household. A lot of kids don’t understand just how hard it is to make it as a professional athlete and how important education is to the process. If you don’t graduate from high school and you don’t graduate from college, you won’t make it there at all. 

I dare myself to keep dreaming, and that’s what I want to do for students and the teachers that are helping students. My dream came true, and I want to continue to help others to help make their dreams come true.

Rodriguez had spent early Friday morning in the batting cage, first hitting off a tee. Between swings he’d turn to David Adams, a 24-year-old minor leaguer, and explain the swing, its path, and why it should work.

Adams had met Rodriguez only once or twice before, and suddenly Rodriguez was talking hitting science with him, how the ball that gets deep can be hit with the same basic swing as the ball out in front of the plate, like Edgar Martinez used to teach a young A-Rod.

“I let him do all the talking,” Adams said. “I’m trying to get as much knowledge as I can. I’ll follow him around and see what I can learn.”

He broke into a smile.

“For any young guy,” he said, “it’s a great day.”

Home ownership is the American dream.  Owning a home is the goal of most professionals who work hard to ensure it becomes a reality.  However, the process of owning a home can become quite daunting and overwhelming.  Most homeowners will reveal that the closing process is in fact the most difficult.  Although I have seen many obstacles occur throughout my years in the business, most can be prevented if prepared.  Here are a few Campins Company tips to help ensure a smooth closing on your next property.

1. Review loan documents: If you want to ensure that your closing process goes smoothly, you should review all your loan documents in advance. This will help you know the terms and conditions of the loan in detail, and you will be able to avoid any kind of shocking surprises later on.   There is no excuse for not knowing what kind of mortgage you have, which is what many buyers now in default claim.  If don’t have the time to review the loan docs on time, then you can contact a real estate attorney and have an attorney review the documents for you. You should make sure that you have reviewed the closing settlement statement or the HUD-1 form and compared it with the Good Faith Estimate (GFE).

2. Clarify your doubts: You should ask questions in order to clarify your doubts. This will help you know what you can expect at the time of closing. It is very important to clarify whether or not you have submitted all the required documents that will be needed at the time of closing. If you have missed out on anything, then you can submit it and rectify your mistakes.

3. Check for mistakes: To err is to be human. But don’t allow these errors to jeopardize your closing process. Your loan officer may have said something which might be wrong and you may have followed that, which could result into a cancellation of the loan. So, make sure that you clarify with the loan officer that you have the correct information.

4. Unexpected things can happen: Once you reach the closing table, you will be informed that all you need is to sign the deal. However, before you sign on the dotted lines, you should double check everything. There can be typo errors which can make things difficult for you in the long run. You should especially check for the interest rates, loan amount, etc. wherein the typo errors can normally happen.  A simple typo error will lead you to send back the documents to the lender so that they can be adjusted. Thus, you should be prepared for such unexpected delays. One trick you can employ is to schedule your closing to happen the day before you’d really like to close, so that if mistakes are caught and closing is delayed, you can still close on your preferred date.

5. Take a  day off from work on the closing date: Though a home loan closing can take as little as 30 minutes of your time, it could also take hours. Trying to squeeze in a closing during the lunch hour can be a very bad idea. You may end up being hungry, late as well as frustrated.

Michael Jordan’s Chicago Mansion in Highland Park:  $29 million.

Although Michael designed the custom home in 1995, the home is actually owned by his ex-wife, Juanita. The former Chicago Bulls star is currently building another custom estate in Florida with his new fiancee, model Yvette Prieto. Which is INSANE!!!! The race is not given to the swift, but to the one that endures.

Has there ever been a period in your life, where you have anxiously been in pursuit of “something,” only to realize after time elapsed time that you have been in someone else’s lane?  It becomes revelatory and disheartening to find that the goals that you have desired could have been achieved sooner, if you would have followed your own path.

We are all born with purpose.  The desires that dwell within our hearts are in some way connected to the purpose meant for fulfillment in our life.  Recall your youth, as a child, there is an innocence that shields us from doubt and fear.  We live in a fearless realm that encourages creativity, passion, growth, and confidence.  Our purpose is acknowledged, adored, and untainted, however maturity has not occurred for clear definition of who we have yet to become.  This is why in so many self-help books and personal development seminars, we are inspired to regain that child like wonderment, where limitations do not exist and everything is possible.

The danger of undiscovered passion and unachieved dreams become more apparent when we become overwhelmed with false images of what we are told we should become rather than remaining comfortable in who WE aspire to be.  These images cause us take our focus off of what is before us and place it on what is next, behind or beside us. The paths of other racers begin to look more inviting and alluring.  We want to run as other competitors run in attempt to receive their reward.  We become preoccupied with attaining “things” that we lose momentum in our pursuit of substance.  Our true desires become distorted as we search for joy in competing in our neighbor’s race, not realizing that we cannot win a race we are not qualified to compete in.  We convince ourselves that we must condition our work ethic, our minds, and perfect our skills to become better than our neighbor, still not realizing that our only competitor is self.  No two races are alike.  We may see similar scenes as we run, but no two paths are the same.  When we lose perspective of the goal, our work is futile and done in vain.

The moral here:  Stay in your own lane!  Who cares how many people pass you.  What matters is that you make it pass YOUR finish line.  You control the pace, you control if you give up, you control if you lose direction, you control if you WIN!  Stay focused on what is ahead of YOU.  Chase after purpose designed specifically for you.  Once you realize that victory is inevitable, you will be encouraged to continue to run.  BE ENCOURAGED!

“You Can’t Always Get What You Want . . .”  ~The Rolling Stones

This song, now decades old, addresses a universal truth.

Here’s the rest of the refrain:

You can’t always get what you want . .
But if you try sometimes
You just might find
You get what you need.

What is it that you really wanted and didn’t get? Could it be a dream job? The affections of a person?

These scenarios range from trivial to potentially life-changing, but they all have one thing in common:

WHEN YOU DON’T GET WHAT YOU WANT, YOU WANT IT EVEN MORE.

Here are three reasons why this is the case:

1. Heightened attention: When something is hard to get (or forbidden) you immediately pay more attention to it. Notice that when you are on a restricted diet you sometimes get too focused on what you “can’t” eat. This heightened attention — which can escalate into obsession — makes the forbidden food seem very important. Your inner brat takes advantage of this, and tries to convince you that you MUST have it.

2. Perceived scarcity: When something is scarce or in short supply, its perceived value increases. You want it more because you think other people also want it. If you’ve ever bid at auctions or on eBay, you know the experience of that last-minute excitement as you watch the bids spiral upward, the more people who bid, the more you’re willing to pay for the item. Your inner brat wants it at any price.

3. “Psychological Reactance”: People don’t like to be told they can’t have or can’t do something. It’s related to not wanting to be controlled by others, especially if the situation feels unfair or arbitrary. The “reactance” is both emotional and behavioral.

The emotional part is your inner brat saying, “Oh yeah? I can’t have what I want? Just try and stop me!”

The behavioral component is what you do about it, which usually involves some type of rebellious reaction. You see this with teenagers whose parents have forbidden them to date certain people. Or sneak out if there is a curfew inflected on them.

The inner defiance, that inner enemy that we battle with daily, can become monstrous in nature.  It  has the ability to pull us from our center, separate us from our truth as well as have disastrous consequences from the actions of allowing defiance to win.

Could it be that our eyes are deceivers of our souls.  We create the image through what we see in belief that what is bad we can become good adjustments to our lives.  We talk ourselves into acting contrary to what we know to be true because of the perception of a possible “missing out.”  There is a need to feed this desire.

Next time you don’t get what you want; ask yourself whether one of the above factors has influenced your desire. If so, let go of the pursuit. Your inner brat won’t be happy, but ultimately (in the words of the Rolling Stones,) you “might just find [that] you get what you need.”

The average American views a sport mainly from the perspective of pure entertainment.  From the eye’s view, what is possibly seen is the tenacity of a player, the cohesiveness of a team, or the effective leadership of a coach.  What is not dominantly on the peripheral is the fact that sports is an enormous business, with each player representing their own corporation of self.

Within this business of sports, there are many individuals who serve in the background to ensure that your favorite player has heart and mind in the game but his hands on his assets.  I have the distinct privilege of being one of those key people behind the scenes.  You may know that I have built The Campins Company from the ground up after “The Apprentice.”  Being on the show afforded me great opportunity of which I realized that I had the strategically plan and seize the moment that was afforded to me. The truth of the matter is that although I have never played a sport, my heart wholeheartedly is with the athletes of the sports industry. The Russian billionaire, Yuri Milner, paid $100 million for a second home in California’s Silicon Valley, in Los Altos Hills.

This home is 25,500 square feet of living area, and was inspired by 18th-century French chateaux. It has 25,000+ square feet of living space with five bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a central entry court, ballroom, home theater, wine cellar, spa/gym, a tennis court, car wash, swimming pool and formal gardens. The living areas are all located on the second floor to take advantage of the dramatic San Francisco Bay Bay view.

Mr. Milner’s primary residence is in Moscow, where he lives with his wife and two daughters, but he is a frequent visitor to the high-tech enclave in northern California.

The 47-year-old Internet tycoon appeared on the cover of the most recent issue of Forbes magazine and has invested heavily in Facebook, Zynga and Groupon through his investment firm DST Global. His company controls about 10 percent, or $5 billion worth, of Facebook’s shares. He also has had positive dealings with the Russian online company Mail.ru.

The barrier to change is not too little caring; it is too much complexity. Cutting through complexity to find a solution runs through four predictable stages: determine a goal, find the highest-leverage approach, discover the ideal technology for that approach, and in the meantime, make the smartest application of the technology that you already have.

To turn caring into action, we need to see a problem, see a solution, and see the impact. But if you want to inspire people to participate, you have to show more than numbers; you have to convey the human impact of the work – so people can feel what saving a life means to the families affected.

Don’t let complexity stop you. Be activists. Take on the big inequities. It will be one of the great experiences of your lives.

Our Boy Warren Buffett!!!

YOU CAN’T MAKE A GOOD DEAL WITH A BAD PERSON.

Translation: I couldn’t agree MORE!!!! You simply can’t do business with bad people. If you are dealing with a bad person then there isn’t a contract that’s strong enough to protect you and your company from that person. Spend some time thinking about it. Why would you want to do a deal with a bad person? There are plenty of GOOD people in the world who will try to do the right thing, and leaving you without the need to look over your shoulder waiting constantly for them to take advantage of you. You need to deal with straight people! Real Talk!

When Warren Buffett does a deal with an owner of another company, it’s always done via a handshake. The attorneys get involve to simply memorialize the handshake understanding. Buffett is always adamant that he only wants to deal with very GOOD people. If he can’t handshake a deal, how good can the deal be?

Here’s another example of this type of thinking that took place, many years ago, back in the late 1970’s. It was the original IPO of Home Depot. Prior to Home Depot’s IPO, there was a private placement done at five cents a share. A gentleman in Boston was considering putting up several million dollars. Actually, as the deal was being done, he did a handshake and agreed to terms, and then he came back and said, he didn’t want the company to pay for 2 cars that the founders were driving.

It wasn’t a week later that he came back and said he didn’t want the company to pay for health insurance for the 2 founders. The deal died right then and there. This fellow was going to put in a couple of million and it would have become at least $10 billion but he wanted to keep haggling, and change the deal. Keep in mind that you need to get the big things right in a deal. If you want to spend hours haggling over the small things, the movers and the shakers will never deal with you.

Your inner circle should be composed of individuals that You hold to high regard.  Your inner circle is designed to represent elites that connect and share your substance, hold your best interest at heart, and  want nothing more than to see you shine.  Above all, you entrust these individuals with your heart and soul and with unwavering faith through thick and thin.  Having said that, clearly, that “inner circle” — if you will… plays a vital yet delicate role in your life.

Why then, are we not more cautious when selecting these individuals?  One of the most painful experience in life is the betrayal of such a person.  We can get past romantic dissolutions and disagreeable business alliances, however there is something blinding about a betrayal from a person who holds your most intimate inscriptions.  It is a scaring pain that dulls through time but an image forever ingrained in our minds.

I urge you to practice extreme caution.  Choose individuals that have walked a little further than you have while in their journey, individuals of greater wisdom gained as a result of endured hardship — people who have stood the “TEST” of life in more ways than one; people you have worked closely with for a long period of time.  Choose people that you respect and that respect YOU! These people represent your place of peace, safety, reflection, motivation and revelation — all while in their space and lastly, be sure that the people you have selected are in complete alignment with your heart, mind and soul.

Realize that as you get older, your needs and perspectives change.  What worked for you at 18, did not work for you at 25.  What worked at 28, certainly does not work at 32. You evolve as a person which means that you will need different mentoring at various stages of your life.  You will see that it does not take a village, but merely a handful of genuine human beings with spirited brain power and an innate sense of loyalty to get you where you want to go.  In this case less is more –  let’s be honest, no one has 150 close friends.  You may have 150 acquaintances, but 3 real individuals who are there for you unconditionally night and day.  As you get older, you understand that if you have one good friend, you are blessed!

Your life belongs to YOU and it is one precious gift!  You deserve to have individuals speak the truth, who respect your passion, help reveal your purpose, and value the greatness of your authentic self.

Got Guts?

Guts… willing to do the uncomfortable.  Willing to take risks.  Feeling fear and doing it anyways. Courage. The dictionary defines Guts as courage, fortitude, nerve or audacity.

To create lasting change in your life – you must have guts! Period. You must have the courage to do what others will not do, the fortitude to stay the course, the nerve to make the move and the audacity to actually step out and do it. To take a stand and NEVER sway… Not for popular applause, not for politics, not for fame, and not for money. Do you have guts?

Do you have guts with your values? Are you willing to take a stand for them? Are you willing to follow your values even if it means you lose a deal or have to step aside? Having guts with your values means that you are willing to live your values – no matter what.

One of my most important values is family. I value my family above all else. To have guts with my values means I am willing to live by them no matter what. And the answer is Yes. All day, every day.

Do you have the guts to be humble? Are you willing to serve? Are you willing to not have the world revolve around you? It takes guts to be humble. It’s not in style to be humble. It isn’t even encouraged in most circles or in society. Yet I believe humility is one of the keys to success. I remain humble now and into Eternity.  And I also choose not to be surrounded by others who lack humility. Quite frankly, lack of humility is such a turn off.

Do you have guts to be honest? Are you willing to be honest even if it‘s uncomfortable? Having guts with honesty means that you honestly deal with life on life’s terms. It means that you’re willing to be honest in all situations and at all costs. Honesty isn’t easy, it can be downright scary, but it’s crucial to our well being. Being honest takes GUTS.  It amazes me how MANY successful business women & men can’t be honest when it comes to uncomfortable and REAL issues.  They send another person “a messenger” to deliver a message for them or swim around the issue because they don’t have the GUTS to say it themselves. It also amazes me how many of these successful men and women all of a sudden disappear when it’s time to take accountability.  Rather than speaking honestly and communicating directly, they run. That’s when I lose all respect.  You can have all the money, fame, notoriety in the world, if you can’t communicate with me to my face when it’s time to talk business or deliver a message which may not be “comfortable”, I lose all respect.  See, it’s not about delivering what you think someone wants to hear but rather, delivering the truth. Now, that’s something I respect, Truth.

Do you have guts with your emotions? Are you willing to uncover your emotions, feel them and share them with those you care about and love?  I will be the first to admit that having guts emotionally can be hard but once you feel your emotions and connect with others who are emotically intellectual, you experience life with new eyes.  Free!!!!

Do you have the guts to have real friendships?  Yes, you read correctly, real friends?  Real friendship takes guts!  Do you have the fortitude required to maintain and grow relationships with others? What about romantic relationships?  Do you have the guts and courage to be in a real romantic relationship? Relationships are hard work. It takes guts to enter into a relationship.  To be You without any fronts or excuses, just you. And it takes even more guts to stay in one. Relationships require guts in all areas – physical, emotional and spiritual.

Do you have guts with your work? Do you have the courage and the audacity to be great and then BeGr8er!!!!!!? Having guts at work can mean many things. It can mean you no longer settle for second best. It can mean you speak your truth. It can mean you encourage someone or give tough feedback. It can mean you leave a position that isn’t a good fit. Having guts at work requires going above and beyond, doing what others will not and doing it over and over again. One of the best ways to get ahead at work is to have GUTS!

As a business owner I need guts every day.

Take time to think about your personal level of courage, fortitude, nerve and audacity this week. Ask yourself if you have guts. Ask yourself where you need more guts? Be honest…

Forbes magazine is synonymous with wealth.  Highlighting the wealthiest  and influential business men and women, the magazine will cross a new threshold.  Wednesday at noon, Forbes will have a different type of cover unveiling, celebrating this second kind of success. Last night, the NFL saluted its best players and plays from the 2011 season with “NFL Honors,” a star-studded football and entertainment event. Alec Baldwin hosted the show, which featured a live performance from Lenny Kravitz. Seven of the awards announced were from the Associated Press, including the AP Most Valuable Player.

Football has been such a HUGE and integral part of my life for over 13 years now!!!!! From my days at The “U” during all the Championship years to my days working as an NFL correspondent for ESPN! Sunday evening, the majority of American televisions will be glued to one of the biggest sporting events of the year, Super Bowl XLVI. Besides the over the top ads and amazing half-time performance, most sports addicts are interested in seeing a great game. Isn’t that what we all want, great food, good company, and a good game?

Eli Manning and Tom Brady, the two quarterbacks in the eye of this athletic storm have their eyes set on being the victorious team standing when the dust settles. One quarterback is looking to lead his team to a fourth victory and the other carrying the weight of his team and the expectations of his city on his back. No matter the outcome, even though we all have our winning team in mind, you have to admit that both teams have demonstrated true athleticism, determination, endurance, and discipline.

It has been seven years since Tom Brady won his third Super Bowl ring. The seven year stretch prompted questions if Tom had seen the end of his glory years. Was his reign officially over? Extremely focused, determined, and an incredible leader, Tom silenced doubters. He pushed through insults regarding his personal life, questions of his leadership, and physical injuries that left him on the bench for an entire season. What we see is not a quarterback looking to win just another ring, but what we have is an athlete proving to himself that that the career he has fought so hard to earn, is not only real but intact. This is not a game about winning but a game of redemption.

Eli Manning is the quarterback who continues to believe. Escaping the shadow of his big brother Peyton, Eli leads a time full of life, speed, and competiveness as the city that they represent. Have they been counted out? Numerous times! The pressure to give New Yorkers a parade and to live under the microscope to be just as good as his brother is a lot of pressure. But Eli put the noise and the images in the crevices of his mind and decided to create his own path, adjust the footing of his own shoes, and lead his team. Who doesn’t respect a man who doesn’t want to ride the coattails of his brother but willing accepts the challenges of trial and error in order to create the formula that works best for his team!!! His triumph through adversity has served as a blue print to overcome life’s adversity. He is not just a player, but an innovator of the game. {Eli- You know I have MAD respect for YOU! Hi Abby!!!! :-]}

What looked like a season that would not happen, in the end these two teams not only defeated their opponents but fought against their own personal doubts, defeats, and fears. Yes, there was doubt. Who could expect players to display their full potential after such a long lockout? Most critics said that this would be a washed out season. Not so! The New England Patriots and The New York Giants shut the mouths of the critics and the negativity in the minds. Hard work and will power WILL always prevail! Here is to persistence! The heart of a true lion will always be heard. Get ready for Super Bowl XLVI.

The Campins Company has created a list of home renovations that will be potentially lucrative for you if and when you decide to sell your home.  Remember, home ownership is a long term investment.  You want your investment to work best for you and your future needs.

1. Replace your roofing or siding. How appealing is a home with new, stainless steel kitchen appliances if it has a leaky roof or dilapidated siding? Roofing and siding replacements aren’t cheap; they’ll set you back an average of $18,042 and $9,910, respectively, but you’ll likely recoup 67.4% and 83.2% of those costs come selling time.

2. Add an extra bedroom. Rather than knocking down walls or adding onto your home, try working with what you have. Converting a spacious attic into a bedroom, for example, costs an average of $46,691. That may seem steep, but by doing so, you can increase a home’s selling price by $25,000 to $100,000. Just make sure it has a window. ;-]

3. Add closet space. Extra closet space is also a big hit with prospective buyers {especially women *hint hint* }. Use a portion of a large bedroom to expand an existing closet or create storage space in your attic or cellar. With $500 to $1,000, you can buy the materials at Home Depot or Lowe’s Home Improvement.

4. Renovate the bedroom. Updating the bathroom is essential if a seller wants a buyer’s attention. A full bathroom renovation, however, including installing a new toilet, vanity counter and tub costs an average of $15,789 and typically recoups an average 78% of its cost.

5. Upgrade the kitchen. Rather than ripping the kitchen apart in a full renovation which can cost of as much as $100,000 in some homes, focus on smaller, more visible upgrades, such as installing new granite countertops and stainless steel appliances.

6. Energy- Efficient Upgrades. Homeowners pay a premium for green upgrades and they won’t see much, if any, of that investment returned during a sale. To recoup the cost (mainly in the form of lower energy bills) of, say, installing solar panels requires a homeowner to stay in their home for years.

7. Landscaping. Curb appeal is a powerful selling tool!!!  Minor landscaping touches, like planting some flowers and mowing the lawn, are enough to make a yard attractive to buyers. Some other steps to consider: Replace or repaint the front door and mailbox. Spend no more than $1,000 on these projects and you can expect to recoup the full cost.

8. A Fresh Coat of Paint!!!!  One of my favorite tips!!!!  One of the best investments for resale!  Choose an inviting color!!!! :-]

Consistency + Work = Success

We live in a very instant society.  Fast food franchises are a dime a dozen on every block.  There is virtually an app for just about everything you could possibly need.  We are forced to respond in a fast moving environment that creates a false perception of instant gratification and achievement.  Unfortunately our progress in technology has thwarted the reality of the process of success.

In observing the transformation of what we see and what we hear with regards to success, you can see that society has completely reformed its values concerning work and achievement.  We have become conditioned to reading books that “teach” us to get rich in less than 30 days.  We watch shows that promise that getting in with the right social bracket and wearing the right labels will elevate careers and garner prestige.  We are even taught to believe that a degree gives instant access and entitlement to lofty paychecks after completion of an undergraduate program.  What we have failed to do realize is that we may equip ourselves with tools however the process of success is one that cannot be avoided.

True success is a product of consistent dedication, discipline, and hard work.  The individuals that you see who have accomplished true success in their lives eat, sleep and breathe the passion of their work.  These are the individuals that study their craft, at the first up in the morning and the last to go to sleep.  These are the individuals that have studied their predecessors, ask questions, live to learn and work to become.  The problem with most people is that they feel they are beneath the grunt work.  Yet they don’t understand that it is in the process of the grunt work that you make your mistakes, learn your lessons and are trained by the mentors.  No one just arrives on the top of a mountain and if they do, trust me, they have no idea how to stay there because they become crippled by the height.

Most are fascinated with The Glory…. but behind the glory is much toil.  It takes time, trial and error and many lessons before glory is obtained.  So often artists and athletes are looked upon as role models because of the success, however what is not glorified are the sleepless nights an artist endures from working in a studio for weeks trying to lay down one track or the pain that an athlete’s experiences from consistently pushing his body beyond limitations to be the best on the court or field.  Success is serious work.  Most people want to be a rock star but don’t want to work behind the ropes to get there.

Remember there are absolutely no short cuts.  Short cuts lead to setbacks.  Do the work.  When you put your time in, no one can take that from you.  You build your creditability and earn your respect.  When you go around the barrel you miss the lessons you would learn going through the barrel.  If your dream is not worth the fight or the work, then you have to ask yourself if you really deserve to have it….

I’m not telling you it’s going to easy, I’m telling you, it’s going to be worth it!

The American dream is homeownership.  There is no greater investment than the purchase of property. However, the current economic climate has many potential buyers puzzled if now is the right time to purchase a home. In this market especially, the question of whether to rent or buy has never been more pressing.  Many people that can buy are choosing to rent because they would rather rent than buy a house, and have it go down in value.  They are uncertain as to what the future holds for the housing market.  However, the rental market is already very strong due to all of the people who cannot buy for various reasons, including bad credit.  The inflationary opportunity cost of not buying could price certain buyers out of the market if values do rise.  There are many other factors to consider as well, such as whether the landlord (if you do rent) is or will be in default on the property that you rent, which could force you to move out and find a new property, as well as escalating rental prices due to a strong rental market.

The Campins Company has created a helpful road map in assiting you in your decision to buy or rent.

-Figure out how much buying a home in your estimated price range will really cost you monthly, including all the expenses I pointed out above.

-Subtract your current monthly rent from the total figure you came up with in Step 1. For example, if your current rent is $1000 and your monthly homeownership cost is $1,450, that is a difference of $450 per month.

- Set up a new bank account. On the first day of each month – you are to deposit whatever the difference is between your current rent and what your projected homeownership costs would be; in our example, you would deposit $450 into the account.

- You are to do this every month for six months. If you are late in your payments, or if you feel stressed out trying to make the payments, you should take this as a sign that you may not be financially ready to become a homeowner. Then take a little of this money and go out and celebrate. You deserve congratulations for going through this process and learning you aren’t yet ready to buy. You just avoided making a huge financial mistake; and in my book avoiding mistakes is an important part of life.

If, on the other hand, it was easy for you to make the extra $450 monthly payment, that’s a financial sign you can probably afford to buy the house you want. That’s the good news. The great news is you now have an extra $2,700 you saved during this six-month test that will come in handy to help pay for your closing costs on the mortgage, or the new furniture I know you are going to want, or – better yet – to increase the size of the down payment.

- Make sure your credit report is spanking clean and your FICO score is as high as possible. Remember, the higher your score, the lower the interest rate you will be offered on the loan. If you get your score to 720 or better, you’re in the “top group” and will be in line for a great rate of 4.125 percent or so on a 30-year fixed rate loan. But if your score is 100 points lower, your rate is going to be closer to 7.8 percent. On a $150,000 mortgage that translates into an extra $180 or so you’re going to need to fork over each month. And over the life of that 30-year loan you’re looking at paying tens of thousands of dollars more in total interest costs. It clearly pays to get your credit score in order. So while you are debating whether you should keep renting or take the plunge and buy, why not use that time to make sure your FICO score is the highest it can be?

V.I.P. = Very Important Person

Celebrity = a famous or well-known person

Isn’t it funny how we have allowed the defined societal titles to dictate the popular status quo of who we see as in and out?  These very futile titles that we give, celebrity, V.I.P. that are used to separate ourselves one from another , have plagued our understanding and acceptance not only of each other but also of our true selves.  We seek to become a part of…  We seek acceptance.  Our arrival is in the idea that our names become regular on a list of exclusivity, prestige, and celebrity.  We seek to become a part of a world that is designed to be set apart from the average Joe, “the regular people.”

I often ask myself how we got to this point.  How did the title of celebrity ignite our drive to become?  Think for a moment.  When there is a club scene on television, the goal is to get into V.I.P.  If there is an exclusive party, most people desire to have their name on the list.  The “celebrity” lifestyle is one that most young children admire and wish to go after.  We watch entertainers and often ponder on what it would be to acquire that lifestyle.  When will we get to the point when we see our own accomplishments on the same level as that of a celebrity?  When will we believe that the life we are living is just as grand and just as important as the person who lives in the hills of Los Angeles?

These titles that separate, should make us question why we value one talent over the other.  In the world of “reality television” you can acquire the lifestyle of exclusivity for doing nothing other than being famous.  Fame, is now way too common. Should the weight in value be greater for someone who “acts” life versus someone who actually “lives” life?  Should there be greater honor for an athlete over a teacher?  Should a performer receive greater prestige over someone who tirelessly works to improve the condition of their community?  The barriers of exclusivity distinguish between the have and the have not’s.  Were we not all born with gifts? Are we not all worthy of respect, acceptance, and admiration?  Do we have to continuously use these devices to make ourselves feel better or have a one up on each other?  Life is so much bigger than the status of “celebrity”.  We have everyday heroes that go unheard every day, yet their work will leave a legacy that will impact nations to come.

Come on people.  Get past the titles.  Get into the work not the perks of life!   Stop getting caught up on the titles.  If we spent as much time honoring our own lives as we do wishing for the lives of other people, we would be much further in exercising our purpose.  Get past the titles and get into yourself!  CHECK YOURSELF!

First and foremost, I want to thank my friends at Nike who allow me to learn and growth with them.  I am forever grateful. Blessed.

In our truth we discover our true selves.  In discovering our true selves we realize that our life is a mere impartation to the world of who we are.  We live in that truth daily, with the intent of leaving an imprint, a piece of who we are, to individuals who are destined to cross our paths. The reality of it all, is that each day that we exchange pieces of ourselves to one another, we create an atmosphere the enables the impossible to become very real.

I experienced an exchange that enabled me to look introspectively at the value of what I represent as well as the depth of life’s great gifts.  I was gifted with an extraordinary opportunity to speak to at a company I’ve admired and respected since I was a child, Nike.  The company who branded three words into a phenomenon had asked me to share my thoughts, my words, myself with their team.  The experience was remarkable to say the least. I traveled with the intent to inspire yet I was even more eager to reap wisdom from them! A million questions I wanted to ask THEM ran through my mind. I left most empowered with the realization that what I spoke about had manifested in my own life.  I did not realize how intense life could be until I was shown that my words were life and I had become what I believe.

I believe that there is a greater more perfect version of ourselves that lies within the core of who we are.  This version that reaches higher, achieves greatness, drives head on to conquer anything that does not allow full peace, can only be awakened when we have a desire to know one self.  This desire must be awakened by understanding that our present selves is a mere small representation of the greater collective. In understanding this concept, we begin to seek higher purpose and realize that there are absolutely no limits to what life can bring to us.  We also begin to value the greatness that we have to offer and come into a full understanding that the meaning of our lives have nothing to do with us but everything to do with the impact that it has on others.  In submission of who YOU desire to become, in essence, allows YOU to become more than YOU have ever imagined that YOU were capable of Becoming.  Humility and submission are the core elements of which your true self resides in.  You cannot become great without submission and you cannot become successful without humility.

I challenged the attendees as I challenge myself daily to become their true authentic selves.  When you are authentic in who you are you do not have to fight to live someone’s else’s dream.  You realize that your purpose is more than enough.  Ask yourself: Who are you?  What is your statement of purpose?  What is your personal mission statement?  What is your plan to reach your full potential? How are your actions aligned with your mission statement and what you “say” “you represent ” or “desire to represent” to the World?  Really aligned?  Be honest… with Yourself. What steps are you taking to reach your goals and in turn, brand yourself as Yourself, because that’s who you where meant to BE & therefore, where all your gifts are born… Within. You, like myself must be willing to not only ask these questions but also become still enough to receive the answers.  We live in an instant society.  You must be patient and understand the value in time.  While you are waiting, life is responding in small whispers that prepare you for an even GREATER OUTCOME.  Be still. Believe.

How do we know what we know, and how sure can we be that what we think we know is right?  And yes, I understand it’s not about right & wrong but rather about how we see ourselves, which in turn determines how we see the World. I’ve been thinking recently about the fundamental areas where I have changed my mind (not swayed, but enlightened with a new perspective) during my life.  There have been some pivotal moments where such change has occurred.  The common dominator seems to be I felt something I had never experienced prior which in turn, allowed me to know what I could never feel before that point.

I do have convictions about which I am certain enough to live by.  I consider many of these an act of faith – that is beyond empirical proof.  Simply to be alive is one of these values.  Even to be is a value, so that whatever exists has an intrinsic value.  To be part of the mysterious evolution of this universe is a value.  To live with integrity and respect for myself and for everything and everyone else in the universe is a value.  To love and care for those who are in my life is a value.  That is at the Core of who I am.

So as each of us evolves into the person we are meant to be, our eyes evolve as well. Pure awareness like the innocence of Children. Open to life, Fully. Free to accept what reality has to offer. May we all find that teacher within us, to guide us home, to the Heart of Laughter & Joy. It seems as we dig deep within ourselves…. dig in our wounds to discover our pure heart…  our Glory is revealed to us because that is where our authentic, genius lies….

Erasing our hard drive without any backups….back to Innocence.

Part of this journey involves removing any preconceived notions or assumptions which have been planted in one’s mind from prior life experiences.  Ready to battle when in reality, no one else came to the fight but You. So One is left to battle with ourselves… It’s a choice.  Ultimately, we are partially a product of our environment and so the evolution back to our true selves involves removing the conditioning that has taken place…. Not only am I willing to do this in order to evolve into the person I was meant to be but I am committed to it.  I yearn to be 100% authentic.

I guess one truly can’t know what one doesn’t feel…. But now that I’ve felt certain things, my perceptive has changed… And no, it’s not temporary eyes or fog lenses, it’s real.  When we change the way we look at things, the things we look at change. It’s only when I allowed myself to remove my self-inflicted walls that I came to the realization. That’s the truth.

Now, I’m addicted to “feeling”  It unveils such FREEDOM!

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

On Friday December 30, 2011, retired NFL Linebacker Chris Draft lost his wife to her long battle with lung cancer.  The couple was married a month prior.  She was so weakened by the disease that she was in a wheelchair for the private wedding.

Chris Draft, whose unwavering loyalty and support to his soul mate exemplifies the definition of a real MAN, released this statement:

“Not just an inspiration, but a light, and a force that led the way with a beautiful, sweet smile and bright shining eyes that both belied the pure steel of her strength and determination.

Strong is too pale, too shallow and too small of a word to describe Keasha’s vibrancy… Quite simply, she was ferocious. She fiercely held onto life, and love with a forcefulness that was absolutely awe-inspiring and completely breathtaking. Rest in peace, Mrs. Draft.”

The love story between Chris and Keasha has moved hearts across the world. True love prevails above all.  The Campins Company sends our heartfelt condolences to the Draft family.  Chris and Keasha, thank you for restoring the belief of true love in our hearts.

In a recent Survey, Americans were asked which celebrities they would like to have as neighbors. Tim Tebow and Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt topped off the list.  Which celebrity would you like to have as a neighbor if any?

This also brings to light an interesting topic:

“Love thy neighbor” is not as hard as it looks on the surface. It simply means respecting others and regarding their needs and desires as highly as we regard our own. Whether it be what we as society have pegged as a “celebrity” neighbor or another civilian, we must treat each other with respect and love.

How can we learn to love the guy next door? Perhaps the secret is to recognize that our neighbor, whether it’s the guy next door, the checker at the local grocery store, or the Sunday school teacher at church, is someone as worthy of God’s love as you or I.  You get my point. ;-]

Now back to the survey, And in the coming year, 11 percent of the adults surveyed said they’d like to be neighbors with NFL quarterback Tim Tebow. 14 percent of men and 7 percent of women said they’d like to be his neighbors.

Following Tebow, Angelina and Brad Pitt were high on the list of wanna be popular neighbors.

Jennifer Aniston and boyfriend Justin Theroux were also high on the list of desirable celebrity neighbors. 9 percent of those polled voted Theroux and Aniston. 14 percent said they’d like to live next to Brad, Angelina and their children.

Jay Z and Beyonce follow Aniston and Theroux, 4 percent said they’d like to have the famous hip/hop and R&B pop diva as neighbors. But Jay Z and Beyonce, even though married, are still very much their own people with separate quarters. Beyonce, in the Essence interview, conceded that she, unlike her famous mogul hubby, is a little less organized and not compulsively neat. The clash made it necessary for the superstar couple to maintain their private spaces in separate abodes. Of course, that interview was before Beyonce’s pregnancy announcement.

Throughout my journey I have come in contact with people from all walks of life.  I have met people with different beliefs, customs, experiences, and lifestyles. However, when it comes to success, the common thread that I have noticed is that people who have achieved great success in their lives have an unwavering focused intent, HEART, belief and consistency in ACTION.  They have reconciled within self that they have one option and that is to win. Period. Seriously, look within your social network.  The individuals that are successful have a diehard mindset when it comes to their lives.  They see an opportunity everywhere, many of the same places where most people see problems or obstacles. They are always asking questions, seeking connections, solutions, and new partnerships.  These people are extremely focused on the goal not looking to complain about the resources they do not have, but rather are proactive in finding those resources from other outlets. They consciously and methodically create their own success. You know at least one person like this. When you speak to them, their speech and actions are aligned.  They understand that they have a hand in creating their success. No excuses. No complaints about circumstance or lack of “luck”.  They just do!

I believe in Divine order and faith, but I also believe that I am a partner with the universe in creating success and achieving destiny. I have faith in my destiny, but I know I must act in order to live out my full soul’s purpose. I believe that faith without works is dead.  One of my pet peeves is when I hear people with so much potential give up before they even start.  They say things like, “I have no control over what happens.”  “I don’t have final say over my destiny.”  I ask them to accomplish a task and before I even finish my sentence, they respond with ALL the obstacles in the way.  The minute they start with the excuses, my mind switches gears immediately and speaks back to me  ”Not someone you want on your team.” I move on. I can only push someone so much.  You can lead a horse to water but eventually, they must learn to drink! Are we to live this life as robots walking a path that the universe plugs into us?  Absolutely not!  We are partners in our destiny.  We have to do our part to win.  We can rely on hope, but you have to actively pursue.  We can’t always see the glass as half empty.  If water is still visible in the glass, that means we have something to work with.  AND EVEN if you just have an empty glass…. you STILL have something to work with, a glass!!!!  ;-]

What we perceive is what we will act upon.  Find the good in what you seek and continue to focus on that.  Remain consistent in your process.  Success is not easily achieved so you must pace yourself and endure every phase of the process.  Remember as you work, you will learn.  Learning produces growth.  Growth produces wisdom.  Do not grow weary in working.  You will reap the reward of your labor but you must work.  There is no replacement for hard work.  The universe will respond to connect with you to achieve the desired result.  Stop watching on the sidelines.  Meditate, seek instructions.  (So much is learned in silence. Listen.) Get around like minded people that will hold you accountable.  Realize that you are worthy of success just as much as the person standing next to you.  Stop with the complaining.  Stop with the excuses.  You are wasting time, YOUR time.  Just do it!

I spent New Year’s Eve in Stillness…

Do You know You? There’s always something ending & something beginning, a million distractions, emails, text messages, people pulling at you but Yet in the very center is the truth: You. I hope you have gotten sufficiently tired of hitting the snooze button on getting acquainted with Yourself. Everyone likes to Win, but few are willing to Prepare to Win. It takes a little bit more to be a Champion, it’s already in You but, are you willing to do the work to discover YOU. I won’t ever tell anyone how to live their life or what their next action should be, but I will share what helped me uncover my freedom. I stopped trying to please the World and instead started on a journey to unfolding my soul’s purpose. It takes hard work, discipline & focus but I promise, the Unwavering Peace you experience once You know who you are, that is Living!

The most fundamental cosmic law governing relationship is this:

“Relationship is an etheric reality. It’s a mental thing, an emotional thing, not a physical thing. Relationship is a true feeling connection that you enter and maintain in your mind and heart.

Have you not observed, many times over, that MANY people have physical closeness without having relationship? Have you not seen, over and over, that a wayward & doubtful mind can & will destroy relationship even while two people are physically close — even in the middle of physical INTIMACY? And remember what else you have seen: that far apart lovers can be truly and deeply involved with one another, on the etheric level, in spite of the physical distance between them.

Those observations PROVE, beyond any reasonable doubt, that true relationship IS an etheric realization, and not — CLEARLY not — a physical realization.

Therefore, in order to have good relationships of any kind, we need to take responsibility for creating relationship where relationships ARE created — IN THE MIND.”

The Maybach Music Group CEO graces one of two covers of the year-end issue wearing a luxurious yellow fur coat, a gold ring and gold stunners to match. In the interview the Miami rapper opens up about his seizures, which sent fans reeling back in October, as well as upcoming plans for his label.

“I went and seen an actual neurologist to tell me what was really going on. My condition was basically extreme exhaustion,” Rick Ross tells The Source, “…it was a real eye-opener for me.”  (Boy, I can relate as I was rushed to the hospital a year ago from exhaustion and it was a BIG eye opener for me as well).

Rick Ross is set to release his fifth album God Forgives, I Don’t at the top of 2012 and he’s currently at work on his upcoming mixtape Rich Forever.

There is a myth regarding the real estate industry surrounding the holiday season.  Most people believe that the market is stagnant during the holidays.  Contrary to popular belief, the holiday season is one of my busiest times of the year. The Campins Company is inundated with contracts. Just last week, we placed seven clients in new homes.  And this week, we’ve closed two HUGE deals and signed, sealed and delivered two more properties. 15 hour work days but when you love what you do, is it really work?  I know that I have said this before, but I have such a passion for my work. Helping a client, most of which become dear friends find their dream house and witnessing them cultivate it into a home right before your eyes, priceless.

-Allow the front of your home to sell your house.  Place a nice wreath or just a few poinsettias.  Don’t go overboard.  In this case, less is more.

- Remain religiously neutral.  Not everyone shares the same religious beliefs.  You are not selling Christmas, Kwanza or Hanukah, but a home.  Just as anytime of the year, the house needs to speak for itself. Potential clients need to be able to see themselves in the space.

- Keep the thermostat at a comfortable temperature.  There is nothing worse than showing a cold home.  Potential buyers rush through the home possibly missing key elements because of being cold. Keep the temperature comfortable. You want potential buyers to experience a warm cozy home.

- Market and price your home to sell. Market the house online by uploading a virtual video tour of the house and post pictures of the home taken during spring and summer so potential home buyers can see what the landscaping looks like during warm weather. Research what comparable homes have sold for in the immediate area to discover the fair market value of the house, then price the house for 10% less.

Things that make you go Hmmmmm….

The bathrooms of the future could allow you to stay connected while you’re in the loo.  (Did the “Jetsons” have one of these!!!?)

I don’t know about you, but I consider my bathroom a calming retreat from my wired-in, always-accessible life. So I had mixed feelings after this….

The bathrooms of 2021 and beyond, say a team of designers, psychologists, and engineers, will allow for phones in the shower, mirrors connected to the Internet, and walls that connect to social networking sites.  That’s a lot of connectivity in a place where we usually go it alone.

But if you feel anxious about missing any text messages or Groupon bargains, these developments should give you some peace of mind.

Some other features on the horizon:

• Bathroom cabinets that remind you to take medication and order refills online.
• Interactive mirrors that offer style and makeup tips.
• Scales that let your Facebook friends know how your diet is going. (We could live without that.)

Pending home sales rose strongly in October and remain above year-ago levels, according to the National Association of Realtors®. 

The Pending Home Sales Index,* a forward-looking indicator based on contract signings, surged 10.4 percent to 93.3 in October from 84.5 in September and is 9.2 percent above October 2010 when it stood at 85.5. The data reflects contracts but not closings.

Lawrence Yun, NAR chief economist, said improved contract activity is a hopeful sign. “Home sales have been plodding along at a sub-par level while interest rates are hovering at record lows and there is a pent-up demand from buyers who normally would have entered the market in recent years. We hope this is indicates more buyers are taking advantage of the excellent affordability conditions,” he said.

“Many consumers are recognizing that home buyers in the past two years have had one of the lowest default rates in history. Moreover, continued inventory declines are another healthy sign for the housing market,” Yun added.

The PHSI in the Northeast surged 17.7 percent to 71.3 in October and is 3.4 percent above October 2010. In the Midwest the index jumped 24.1 percent to 88.7 in October and remains 13.2 percent above a year ago. Pending home sales in the South rose 8.6 percent in October to an index of 99.5 and are 9.7 percent higher than October 2010. In the West the index slipped 0.3 percent to 105.5 in October but is 8.1 percent above a year ago.

The Pending Home Sales Index is a leading indicator for the housing sector, based on pending sales of existing homes. A sale is listed as pending when the contract has been signed but the transaction has not closed, though the sale usually is finalized within one or two months of signing.

The index is based on a large national sample, typically representing about 20 percent of transactions for existing-home sales. In developing the model for the index, it was demonstrated that the level of monthly sales-contract activity parallels the level of closed existing-home sales in the following two months.

An index of 100 is equal to the average level of contract activity during 2001, which was the first year to be examined as well as the first of five consecutive record years for existing-home sales; it coincides with a level that is historically healthy.

Having been blessed with the experience of a lifetime being cast on the most popular show of 2004, the 1st Season of “The Apprentice” with an average viewership of 20.7 million viewers each week, and an estimated 28.05 million viewers for the final episode, beating a new episode of CSI…. naturally, I am asked how the experience changed by life.  In short, it changed my life significantly.  Surviving the concrete jungle at such a young age with mentors Donald Trump & Mark Burnett was priceless.  I walked out of Trump Towers with a full coat of armor.

With that said, this recent Esquire article featuring what Donald Trump Jr. learned from his father Donald Trump very fitting. Keep shining Mister!!! There is nothing like the love and bond of a family. I am forever grateful to Mr. Trump and his family for the love and light they’ve shared with me throughout the years.  Blessed.

Donald Trump Jr.: What I’ve Learned

 

I avoided the spotlight when I was a kid. I always knew Hey, it wasn’t me. I didn’t do anything. If there was a camera around, I hid from it.

To say we weren’t spoiled as kids would be asinine, right? But we were spoiled in ways that are probably beneficial to an individual’s growth. We were very well traveled. We spoke multiple languages. We were around fascinating people who were making history. We got to experience things that other people didn’t experience. But we were never spoiled financially. That kept us out of a lot of trouble.

I remember spending weekends with my grandfather. I’d be five years old. You know what we did on Saturday afternoon? We’d go to collect rent. Or we’d walk a job site. He’d pick up nails on the floor because a nail, that’s a penny, and you don’t waste that. I mean, he would buy a mop and a broom handle separately because it was cheaper for him to sit in his office and screw them together than it was to buy the whole package.

I have no middle wardrobe. I go from the suit to jeans.

One of the most important lessons I ever got in life was having to work for minimum wage and tips as a dock attendant. People who were friendly with my father treated me like total shit because they didn’t know who I was.

Had they found out who I was, they would’ve shit their pants.

Around the time of my parents’ divorce was an awkward stage of my life because I was a teenager. You really don’t know shit about life yet, but you think you do. You think you’re a man, but you’re not quite there yet. It’s a very frustrating period because it’s the only time when a normal person can perhaps experience effectively being crazy.

I had the complete Ivy League résumé coming out of high school. I had the grades. I had the boards. I played varsity sports. I was the editor of our school newspaper, the yearbook, the literary magazine. But I thought, Maybe I should go to the University of Colorado out in Boulder. Or to the University of Vermont and ski. I talked about it with my dad and he said, “Listen, don’t be a schmuck…” He said it in the way that teaches. Are you kidding me? Go to the best school you can get into. That credential is something that will help you open doors later in life. He was 100 percent right.

A good friend of mine from college, someone I used to party with pretty hard, is now a brain surgeon — which I find very ironic. It’s one of those things. You go to school with someone, you party with them, and now you feel, I don’t care if you’re the best brain surgeon in the frickin’ world, I ain’t letting you operate on me.

My father’s theory is: Listen, if someday you’re going to tell someone to dig a ditch, you should know how to do it yourself.

I’ve always been the Sure, I’ll try that guy. I’m very adventurous and don’t have fears. I think I got that from my mother’s side because she was an Olympic skier. Jump off a mountain with a parachute? Sure. What could possibly go wrong?

I’ve broken probably every major bone in my body. I currently have, in my body, fifteen pins and a plate. I’ve broken my femur, both wrists, both ankles — my left ankle twice. My tibia. Tore my rotator cuff. And that doesn’t include knuckles, noses, and don’t get me started…

My wife and I call our four-year-old daughter Donald. She’s just like my father. She’s very tough, very stubborn, very opinionated. She’ll figure out what she wants and then figure out how to get there. My wife and I just look at each other and think, Oh, my God, it’s like watching my dad. And there’s nothing I could want more, because no one will ever take advantage of her.

We’ve all learned from each other. We recognize that we have strengths and weaknesses. Say I’ve found a deal, negotiated the major parts, then it gets to dotting the i‘s and crossing the t‘s and it gets contentious. My brother will say, “Let me see what I can do.” He’ll step in, become friendly with the guys who I was almost in a boardroom fistfight with the day before. And he gets it done. There are times when Ivanka will say, “Don, why don’t you give this guy a call?” It’s like calling the bullpen.

Some people like to paint and sing. We like to create and build.

When we do deals, it’s not, “Ah, it’s a million bucks, who cares?” The penny means something.

That dollar bill, signed by him, up on my little poster board — it was a bet we made. He was certain a situation was going one way and I was certain it was going another. There was a number involved, and we made a bet on that number. The bet was for one dollar. And I hit the number. At first, he’s like, “I don’t think so. That can’t be.” I’m like, “Hey, it’s audited by financial! You can’t fudge this.” Somehow he convinced himself that wasn’t the bet. Okay, Dad, okay. And I was okay with it. Because I knew. Finally, I think Ivanka said to him, “Listen, Dad, you really do owe him the dollar.” After a few months, I come into my office one day and that dollar bill was sitting on my desk. It’s one of my prized possessions. That dollar bill is more meaningful to me than anything of monetary value. And it also goes to show the value of a dollar bill.

The best thing I’ve ever done? Well, I’ve created four beautiful children. You mean, other than that?

Yes, it’s true. As a kid, I was making a building with blocks in our playroom. I didn’t have enough. So I asked my younger brother, Robert, if I could borrow some of his. He said, “Okay, but you have to give them back when you’re done.” I used all of my blocks, then all of his blocks, and when I was done I had a great building, which I then glued together. Robert never did get those blocks back.

My father was a builder in Brooklyn and Queens, a very smart businessperson who understood life. He taught me to keep my guard up. The world is a pretty vicious place.

My mom was a wonderful woman who was, in many ways, the opposite of my father. Very relationship oriented, very warm and open and generous to people. So I got different qualities from both. It was a great combination.

My life essentially is one big, fat phone call.

Hold on. Gotta take this one…. Reeeeegis, my man! How you doing?… The best pitcher in baseball going against us tonight. And Roger was great last time, but he’s forty-one. Yeah, I’m going. Definitely. Are you?… Ohhh!… And you can’t get out of it?… Reeeeg! You can’t go see that! You can see that any night. This is a once-in-a-lifetime game. Once in a lifetime! You can’t sit through a Broadway show with the Yankees playing the Red Sox in game seven! Go tomorrow night! Look, I’ll get you a ticket. Reeeeg! Reeeeeeeeeeg! Look, even if you sit home and watch it on television, you’re not gonna go to a Broadway show…. If you change your mind, let me know. I love you, darling. Take care. Be good.

The most important things in life are your relationships and your health.

For me, business comes easier than relationships.

You need like, you need love, you need trust, you need sex, you need lots of different things — all of which are very complex.

The most I’ve ever asked the bank for? The job I’m building on the West Side is a $4 billion to $5 billion job.

Work hard to take the gamble out of the gamble.

The work of architecture that’s most impressed me? That I haven’t put up? Well, I’m a big fan of the Empire State Building for a couple of reasons. Number one, I owned the land under the building and sold it recently for a tremendous profit. But I also think it’s a magical building.

The World Trade Center was never appreciated until its death. Now people realize how great it was. There are very mixed views on what to do. If you try to build something bigger, it might become a target. Who’s gonna occupy that space? In another sense, it certainly seems the fitting thing to do — to build something bigger and better than what was there before. Unfortunately, I don’t think what they’re building is going to be as good as what was there.

Going through tough times is a wonderful thing, and everybody should try it. Once.

I was walking down Fifth Avenue with Marla Maples in 1991. This was at the peak of the bad market. Across the street I saw a man in front of Tiffany with a tin cup. I looked at Marla and said, “You know, right now that man is worth $900 million more than I am.”

When I told Marla this, she didn’t run away. Of course, I would have saved a little money if she had.

I had a lot of friends who went bankrupt and you never hear from them again. I worked harder than I’d ever worked getting myself out of it. Now my company is much bigger than it was in the eighties — many times. The Guinness Book of Records gave me first place for the greatest financial comeback of all time.

Fighting for the last penny is a very good philosophy to have.

My children have shown me that they are willing to work hard to become successful. That’s very important. Because when children grow up in wealth, you always have doubts.

I learned a lot from my brother Fred’s death. He was a great-looking guy. He had the best personality. He had everything. But he had a problem with alcohol and cigarettes. He knew he had the problem, and it’s a tough problem to have. He was ten years older than me, and he would always tell me not to drink or smoke. And to this day I’ve never had a cigarette. I’ve never had a glass of alcohol. I won’t even drink a cup of coffee. I just stay away from those things because he had such a tremendous problem. Fred did me a great favor. It’s one of the greatest favors anyone’s ever done for me.

I’ve never understood why people don’t go after the alcohol companies like they did the tobacco companies. Alcohol is a much worse problem than cigarettes.

If you don’t have an understanding of your opponent, things aren’t going to work out very well for you.

I understand people, but I’m better able to understand where the world is going.

CEO compensation has gotten outrageous. Some of these guys come into these big, monster, powerful companies, and all of a sudden they’re making $40, $50, $60 million a year. It’s one thing if you create a company and you start from scratch. But some of these companies have been around for a hundred years. You increase the price of a bottle of ketchup by one penny and you look like a genius. It seems ridiculous. The solution? Have the people who own the stock vote on it.

A bus coming from a church in Louisiana gets wiped out. It’s a difficult thing to figure. You would think that a bus coming from a church would be absolutely protected. But it wasn’t. You look at what’s going on in the world and you say, Boy, God has to be pretty tough.

Has sex changed over time? Not that I’ve noticed. I hope I can say that in fifteen years.

My clients & friends ask me quite frequently how I am able to stay away from Drama & remain at Peace Within. Top Five Regrets of The Dying

For many years I worked in palliative care. My patients were those who had gone home to die. Some incredibly special times were shared. I was with them for the last three to twelve weeks of their lives.

People grow a lot when they are faced with their own mortality. I learnt never to underestimate someone’s capacity for growth. Some changes were phenomenal. Each experienced a variety of emotions, as expected, denial, fear, anger, remorse, more denial and eventually acceptance. Every single patient found their peace before they departed though, every one of them.

When questioned about any regrets they had or anything they would do differently, common themes surfaced again and again. Here are the most common five:

1. I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.

This was the most common regret of all. When people realise that their life is almost over and look back clearly on it, it is easy to see how many dreams have gone unfulfilled. Most people had not honoured even a half of their dreams and had to die knowing that it was due to choices they had made, or not made.

It is very important to try and honour at least some of your dreams along the way. From the moment that you lose your health, it is too late. Health brings a freedom very few realise, until they no longer have it.

2. I wish I didn¹t work so hard.

This came from every male patient that I nursed. They missed their children’s youth and their partner¹s companionship. Women also spoke of this regret. But as most were from an older generation, many of the female patients had not been breadwinners. All of the men I nursed deeply regretted spending so much of their lives on the treadmill of a work existence.

By simplifying your lifestyle and making conscious choices along the way, it is possible to not need the income that you think you do. And by creating more space in your life, you become happier and more open to new opportunities, ones more suited to your new lifestyle.

3. I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.

Many people suppressed their feelings in order to keep peace with others. As a result, they settled for a mediocre existence and never became who they were truly capable of becoming. Many developed illnesses relating to the bitterness and resentment they carried as a result.

We cannot control the reactions of others. However, although people may initially react when you change the way you are by speaking honestly, in the end it raises the relationship to a whole new and healthier level. Either that or it releases the unhealthy relationship from your life. Either way, you win.

4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.

Often they would not truly realize the full benefits of old friends until their dying weeks and it was not always possible to track them down. Many had become so caught up in their own lives that they had let golden friendships slip by over the years. There were many deep regrets about not giving friendships the time and effort that they deserved. Everyone misses their friends when they are dying.

It is common for anyone in a busy lifestyle to let friendships slip. But when you are faced with your approaching death, the physical details of life fall away. People do want to get their financial affairs in order if possible. But it is not money or status that holds the true importance for them. They want to get things in order more for the benefit of those they love. Usually though, they are too ill and weary to ever manage this task. It is all comes down to love and relationships in the end. That is all that remains in the final weeks, love and relationships.

5. I wish that I had let myself be happier.

This is a surprisingly common one. Many did not realise until the end that happiness is a choice. They had stayed stuck in old patterns and habits. The so-called Comfort of familiarity overflowed into their emotions, as well as their physical lives. Fear of change had them pretending to others, and to their selves, that they were content. When deep within, they longed to laugh properly and have silliness in their life again.

When you are on your deathbed, what others think of you is a long way from your mind. How wonderful to be able to let go and smile again, long before you are dying.

Life is a choice. It is YOUR life. Choose consciously, choose wisely, choose honestly. Choose happiness.

Our girl, country music’s princess Taylor Swift, has had quite an amazing year!!! Not only did she celebrate her 22^nd birthday but she recently took home the honors for “Album of the Year” at the Country Music Awards.  During her “Speak Now Tour,” she donated proceeds to benefit the T.J. Martell Foundation for Leukemia, Cancer and AIDS Research.  The Foundation has provided over $240 million dollars for research through a variety of events including concerts, gala awards dinners, family day activities, golf tournaments, wine dinners, and walk-a-thons.

Taylor is no stranger to giving.  She launched a campaign to protect children from on line predators and teamed up with the Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen to combat internet sex crimes.  The singing sensation also donated $250,000 to the Alabama Charity Nick’s Kids to help aid in tornado recovery.  She has lent her hands and voice to assist in accomplishing the missions of other organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Children in Need, Wish Upon A Hero Foundation, Red Cross, Shoe Revolt, UNICEF, and many others.

Since the release of the NFL lockout, there has been a name in constant rotation amongst sports fanatics, journalists, pundits, and enthusiast, Tim Tebow.  Outwardly vocal about concerning his position on faith and God, it is apparent that his determination to lead in excellence has garnered him much deserved praise.  He is an athlete of extraordinary principles, standing on his convictions that may go against the curve of popularity.  One may not like or even understand his adamant stance, but you must admit, that his ability to connect faith and work is admirable and quite empowering.

He is a muse of a man. So often, we hear of people that speak of doing great things but have a hard time aligning speech with action.  You remember the ole saying,” Practice what you preach.”  Every so often, you come across an individual that exemplifies what it is to be a person of word and principle. Tim Tebrow, the starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos gives praise on the field but gives back to his world community.  Known as the Denver miracle, he has established the Tim Tebow Foundation.  With outreach in Gainesville, FL, Philippines, Jacksonville, FL, Washington, DC, Bangladesh, Haiti, and Atlanta, GA, he aims to share a platform of love, faith, and hope. His mission is to assist people in time of tragedy while in the process giving them tools to empower their lives from within.  An angel? One could say, however, if you asked Tim, he would probably say that it is his responsibility to give back.  To whom much is given much is required.  Through his demonstration of selflessness, he helps all to look a little deeper to become GR8ER!

In three weeks, we will enter the year 2012 which so many of us consider a new beginning or fresh start.  Do you notice that from December 1^st to January 1^st, there is so much conversation surrounding the new year, goals, New Year’s resolutions, and reflections?  I always wonder why we consider January 1^st to be this welcoming door for a new beginning when a new beginning can begin when we change our state of thinking.  It doesn’t matter if we enter a new year, if our thinking remains the same, we will live just as we lived in the past. Could it be that we live within the emotion of excitement to rid ourselves of 12 months worth of unaccomplished dreams only to become crippled by the fear of the unknown to not achieve them within another 12 months?  How many times will we rehearse the lines but not follow through with the work?  How long are we going to live as if we have not recognized our potential, our purpose, and God-given talent?  Is it enough for us to live a different life within our minds as opposed to linking the work to have that life manifest?  Dreams are just that.  Do we really want to spend not just another year but another minute unfilled? Better yet, do we just want spend precious moments being a dreamer and not a doer?  The complexities of creating the life we desire is completely up to us. Our thinking, our actions, and our influences all contribute to our realities. The wonderful part is that we can experience the new, the unknown at any given time. The “new” does not just occur on January 1^st.  The new occurs when we connect our thinking to our doing.  Dreams are manifesting at every second of the day.  Life can change for us in a matter of minutes.  There are people living the “dream” and for many that dream did not begin on January 1^st.

Release your mind.  You can create the “new” at this very moment.  Stop waiting for the ball to drop and release your own.  A new minute, hour, day should represent a fresh start for you.  Grab your noise maker, recite your countdown and receive all that your mind can conceive. You release the start of your fresh beginning.  My question to you is not how will you spend the New Year but how will you spend the next minute?

Lessons from Faith Hill on her journey to being Gr8er.

*When it comes to style, LESS is often (or most of the time) BEST. Faith told me a great story of what happened after she was dressed and made up to the hilt for an appearance on “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” “I flew back home to Nashville right after the show in time to pick up my kids at school. Normally, my everyday style is no makeup and my hair in a ponytail,” she divulges. “Believe me when I tell you I don’t look great all the time.”

But coming home from Oprah, she planned on “wow-ing” her kids with the great hair, false eyelashes and to-die-for professionally done makeup. “I came right from the airport, got out of the car to give them a hug at school and they were like, ‘Mom, get back in the car!’ They didn’t want anyone to see me dressed like that because they were embarrassed. I actually had makeup on. They were like, ‘Don’t parade around. Get back in the car! Immediately! Why are you wearing all that gunk? Why is your hair down, Mom?’ It was hilarious.”

*A good mood is her best beauty secret. Faith says, “I do love people. That’s not a secret. That’s why most of the time I’m in a pretty good mood,” she says. “We all live rushed lives, but you can choose to be patient instead of walking around stressed out all the time.” Where does she get this trait? “It was instilled in me from my mom and Dad. They’re very gracious, patient, helpful people.”

*But it’s okay to be in a funk. “I have my bad days, too,” she says. “The other day, I was in a pretty bad mood and I can’t even tell you why. Nothing was right. I couldn’t figure out what to wear. I had a lot to do around the house and I didn’t know where to start.” What did she do? “I just took a deep breath and paused for a moment. Sometimes that can work wonders.”

*Pamper yourself at the end of a long day. It’s mandatory. Maybe you’re been dealing with workmen who have ripped apart your kitchen or business concerns. Make sure to end the day with a little bit of you time. “All of us figure out some way to make it work and even the toughest day will come to an end,” she says. “At night, I will throw my feet up on the couch and rest for a moment. I’ll even acknowledge, ‘God, that was a long day. But I’m not unique. Everyone has trials and tribulations. Everyone could write a book.’”

*Turn tough moments into gold. Faith has a great mental way to deal with fussy grandchildren or children. “There will be times when it’s not perfect,” she says. “Everyone will be fussy or fighting. There will be little quarrels. My kids have long hair and it was such a fight to brush it every morning. Someone would scream, ‘Don’t brush my hair!’ I was so frustrated. But what got me over those moments was remembering that one day they would be too big for me to brush their hair anymore – or they wouldn’t let me.” She says, “Suddenly, those little fights seem meaningless.”

*Find something you love – and do it! Today! The happy look on your face is worth 1000 lifts. Have you always wanted to draw? Sing? Ride horses? Get on it now. “I love music and it drives me,” she says. “It’s what drives me to get up in the morning other than my husband and children.” Faith began singing at age three in church. “I always sang – any time, all the time,” she says. “I encourage anyone who has that passion to do whatever you can to feed it. Find a fair, a local talent show or a class, but do something.”

*Laugh. “People always ask what makes Tim and I such a great couple,” she says. “We love to make each other laugh and we have fun. We also love each other very much.” She adds, “We also strive for balance in our lives. “I will watch football with him on a Monday and he will go shopping with me.”

*Be thankful. It will show on your face. “It’s hard to ask for more than a healthy family,” she says.

*Stop to remember what inspires you – and it shouldn’t be a Chanel bag. Who inspire her the most? “I’d have to say my husband. Other than that, God,” she says. “I also feel my life began when I had children. It gave me life purpose, great meaning and great responsibility. It’s more than all right that I get to experience all of life with a really great guy. If you have a great guy in your life give him an extra hug today and say thanks even if like Tim he makes a mess in the kitchen. You’re still very lucky.”

“A Topic of Conversation at My Family Dinner Table” – Respect v.s. Love

As always, stimulating topics surface during family dinners since we are all quite passionate to say the least! Respect has always been the foundation in our family which is why our motto at the Campins Company is “RESPECT”- {THE SOURCE OF OUR STRENGTH}  (Hence, our company T-Shirts with simply the word RESPECT across the front).  With that said, the conversation of Respect v.s. Love surfaced. Is it better to teach your children to Respect you first then grow to Love you or visa-versa?  What’s the result as you grow older?  What about in personal relationships?  Business relationships?  Does it differ?

My brother-in-law who has been with my sister since they were both 14 years of age summed it up pretty well!  His belief system is very aligned with mine.

Through my brother-in-law, David Adam’s eyes:

“Respect exists or does not exist. You can love somebody a little, you can love somebody a lot. You can love somebody unconditionally or conditionally. You can love somebody as a friend, or passionately. But you either do or do not respect somebody. You don’t respect them one way or another – you respect them completely or not at all.”

“With respect comes love. You have to respect someone/something before you love it. Without respect, is love really love, or is it lust.” ~ My brother-in-law’s best friend Greg Miclat

“What happens in the case of cheating… You still love them, but you disrespected them. You can work things out and stay together. There might not be respect and love might not be as strong, but there’s still love.”

“You can take advantage of Love, yet you can’t take advantage of Respect.” – David firmly states.

“For me to say I love somebody without respecting them as a person, I don’t think that can fulfillingly exist.” – David Adams

At the end of the day, I, Katrina Campins would rather be Respected than Loved.  And I would hope to grow to be Loved as a result of Respect.

Last night my dear friend Loren Ridinger hosted the 5th annual ‘Evenings in Vogue’ fashion event at her home Casa De Suenos in Miami and it was absolutely magical. Presented by Nordstroms along side Missoni’s designer Angela and Vittorio Missoni, the show gave guests a sneak preview of Missoni’s 2012 resort wear collection. Models strutted along pool side while guests enjoyed the delightful fashion show with a total of 33 looks. Thank you Loren for a lovely evening!  Not to mention laughter & shared joy until 3 a.m.  :)

Earlier this week, I attended an event in support of the Art Basel festival in Miami with a dear friend of mine.  As I waited in line for the restroom, there was a young man serving for the evening as a bathroom attendant.  He looked sluggish and spent.  I could see that he was distressed.  I reached out in genuine concern.

Here is the conversation:

Me: “Are you ok? You look tired. Maybe you should take a break so that you can recharge.”

Bathroom Attendant: (in his defensive voice) “I have been here since 7am.”

Me: “I’m sorry to hear that… take a break.  Take care of You, first and foremost.”  (I smiled softly).

When it became my turn to go into the private stall, I overheard him saying to another person in line:

Bathroom Attendant: “I could take a break if I was born with a silver spoon in my mouth and had a fur wrapped around me.”

I opened the stall door and replied:

Me: (In an understanding soft voice).  ”I understand you have preconceived assumptions of me, but my fur is faux and I have been working my butt off since I was fourteen. Never judge a book by it’s cover.  One never knows where people come from and what adversity they’ve overcome.”

Subconsciously, we pass judgement on people everyday.

The experience struck a chord in me because I tend to encounter situations like this often.  Judgements surrounding my authenticity, the process regarding the success of my career, and the overall perception of who I am, are often wrong.  It made me question, why do we make judgements?  I believe that the judgements that we place on others has to do with how we perceive ourselves.  The limiting beliefs that we hold about ourselves we deflect onto our peers. Take for instance; I have been told that my upbeat, positive attitude can come across fake, at first.  That is until someone gets to know me and then they realize, I’m as real as they come and I don’t make any apologies or excuses for it. I am Me.  I ask them why, and many times their response is because, simply, no one individual can be ‘that positive’ at all times. Is that true?  Throughout my day, I may come across difficult scenarios or experience hiccups; however, the way in which I interpret those situations or distractions will directly affect the productivity of my day as well as control my feelings which in turn, affect my response.  I choose to see positivity every day. I choose to live from my pure heart.  Many people tell me I’m an “Enigma”…. but why would I be considered a Enigma? Because I don’t fit into a stereotype?

I live in awareness. I am a product of my conditioning. We act and respond by what we have been taught.  I was taught to run my own race, stay in my lane and concentrate on my task.  In doing so, my energy is not wasted in defining the goal of another person.  We are individuals who perceive ideas differently. I cannot bombard my thoughts and beliefs onto another person and become arrogant when their belief system is not in alignment with mine.  That’s not my place.  This is where judgement is created.  Insecurity within self can lead to character assassination of others.

“We don’t see things as they are, we see things as we are.”

What you see may be entirely different than what others see. Understanding this might help us judge a little less, forgive a little easier and remember to listen more to those who aren’t, as You are.

In general we are taught not to question beliefs.  Many people speak of creationism when it comes to our macrocosm, yet has it ever occurred to you that we have created a microcosm that has embedded a way of thinking that is so deep rooted we never think to question it?  In this case, we have our own creationism theory on a much smaller level.

Happiness, what does it mean?  It can seem very complex and thus be indescribable with few having a real answer for what it is.

So how does your mind create this unhappiness? ATTACHMENTS.   Attachments – yes, to things, but also to false beliefs. An emotional state of clinging caused by the belief that without some particular thing or person you can’t be happy.  Dependency, either emotional, mental or physical. This dependency has two components- the positive and negative effects which in your mind result if you attain or lose this attachment.   These beliefs create your programming, your perception… which ultimately hinders you from realizing that there is nothing you or anyone else can do to be happy. What!!?  Why?  Simply because how can you acquire what you already have right now. You are happy right now, but your mind is telling you otherwise. Drop the “talk” in your head, the conditioning and guess what?  The happiness that’s already inside of you will surface.  Happiness is a choice. Period.

For centuries we have created the belief that we need attachments in order to survive, whether it be to a person, a place or a thing.   Picture yourself for a moment as a wild animal.  Don’t you ever say to yourself half-jokingly that they have the life?  The main obstacle these animals face every day is survival, not unlike us, but they have a sense of freedom that few people have.  They can roam the expansive wilderness needing not one thing.

Now think of how you feel when someone praises you, congratulates you, or recognizes you for an accomplishment.  Now, ponder how you feeling as you watch the sunset or the sunrise or Nature in general.  The first feeling, it’s a wordily feeling.  The second, a soul feeling. As you travel through your day pay close attention to how many of your actions are in an effort to fulfill that first feeling. And those people you are “performing” for, do they understand happiness themselves…

Humans are more evolved than animals; nevertheless, we have animalistic instincts.   We do live in a world where material possessions have eased our lifestyle, but that should never be confused for necessities.

Everywhere people have actually built their lives on the notion, the unquestioned belief that without certain things – money, power, success, approval, love, friendship, fame, etc… they can’t be happy.  Each and everyone of us has a combination of a few of these beliefs going on in our head. What’s your head telling YOU?

Remember, true Happiness is Uncaused. No thing or person outside of You has the power to make You happy or unhappy. What makes You happy or unhappy is not the World & the people around You, but the thinking in your head. ;-}

The winners and losers of a new CBA

The NBA season will happen after all, thanks to a handshake deal struck in New York between David Stern’s NBA and what remains of Billy Hunter’s players association.

As the dust settles after one of the NBA’s more cantankerous episodes, here’s an early peek at who wins and who loses in the upcoming new collective bargaining agreement.

WINNER: David Stern

A missed season would have mucked up his legacy profoundly and called into question his ability to control his owners. A deal, on the other hand, shows he still has the touch.

WINNER: Billy Hunter

He was under serious fire from agents. They have been concerned about his salary, how he runs the union and too many concessions to the owners. And yet, for the third time in as many attempts, he has delivered what matters most: a deal. The first two times, pundits said they were bad deals for players, but over the following years, the pundits were proved wrong — the players have done very well under Hunter, who many say has negotiated his last CBA. And if the players are sharing in the league’s overseas and national TV revenues, this deal also could look great by the time it’s done.

WINNER: Adam Silver

Stern pointedly put his deputy in the spotlight through one of the choppier moments in NBA history, with the tall order to “reset” the way the league works in a fashion that favors owners. The ride was plenty bumpy, but mission more or less accomplished.

With luxury tax more punitive than ever, there will be a premium on those who can help a team round out a roster with incredibly cheap but productive players. The Spurs have had a habit of finding and developing those guys — now every team will have to do so.

Everyone is playing “Moneyball” now. If it can help you control player costs, it can help you win titles.

WINNERS: Incoming owners

In Detroit and Philadelphia, they set the purchase price in an environment of league-wide losses and labor uncertainty. Now they emerge with owner-friendly rules, high TV ratings, media-friendly young stars to drive future league-wide ratings, a better national TV deal on the horizon, promising overseas markets and the knowledge that it’ll be harder in the future for opponents to outspend them.

LOSER: Mark Cuban

The good news is he gets to have a season of glory and a chance to defend that title. The bad news is he is said to have wanted a system that would protect him from big losses even as he went all-out to field the most competitive possible team. A stiff luxury tax, however, does not get him there. Now, to protect his bottom line, he’ll have to develop a new skill: spending discipline.

WINNER: Jerry Buss

Revenue sharing is a bitter pill to swallow, but he still owns one of the most lucrative franchises in sports, he’ll always be able to attract amazing free agents and now fans will understand if he spends a little less on payroll.

LOSERS: The big agents

They tested their influence among players against Hunter and Fisher. And ultimately, this deal was struck between Hunter and Stern. Worth noting: The Players Association regulates agents.

WINNERS: Players who signed long guaranteed deals in the past year

This is a big group, ranging from Paul Pierce to LeBron James. It’ll be tough to beat their old-CBA deals under the new CBA.

WINNERS: The Knicks

This is a deep-pocketed team looking to build a winner. The Knicks still need more players, and with a hard cap out of the picture, they continue to have some flexibility to keep spending if they have to.

LOSERS: The middle class

As owners and the league have spent a year obsessing about player costs, one clear factor has emerged: The poor-value contracts are the big deals for middling players. With or without stiff taxes, you can expect more teams to catch on to the idea of paying for stars and filling in the rest of the roster cheaply.

WINNER: The D-League

As more teams seek bargain players, more teams will invest effort in getting the most out of the NBA’s little brother.

LOSERS: Superstars

They have long made far less than they are worth, and that’s not going to change now.

WINNERS: Strategic dealmakers

A wild and woolly free-agent miniseason likely will commence Dec. 9 under new operating rules. Front offices that know the players they want and what they’re worth in this brave new world could work wonders. Look for the usual candidates — San Antonio, Houston, Oklahoma City — to be working the angles.

WINNER: The New Orleans Hornets

These CBA talks long included talks of contracting the Hornets out of existence. Now that the talks are over, it has to feel good that that discussion never amounted to much. The next trick: Prove that under a new, more owner-friendly deal the team can be viable in the Big Easy.

WINNERS: Fans of the Spurs, Heat, Magic and Mavericks

It was a terrible thing to have your “win now” team sit now.

WINNERS: Timberwolves

Owner Glen Taylor gets to reduce the financial pain. President of basketball operations David Kahn keeps his job. New coach Rick Adelman breathes life into the proceedings. And the long list of talented young players grows further with Derrick Williams and Ricky Rubio.

WINNERS: The Denver Nuggets

Remember when the Heat had all that cap room to sign free agents? The Nuggets are basically like that, only now all kinds of teams will be on a course to shed payroll. There’s not a system in the world in which you can’t parlay tiny roster commitments into potential.

WINNER: Player movement

You know you love the excitement of a trade. And there’s going to be more of that. The old CBA went to some trouble to keep teams united. The new one, not so much. The league noticed that LeBron James’ desertion of Cleveland spurred more interest in the NBA, not, as feared, less. It’s no accident the new system will inspire a lot of player movement.

Revenue sharing will be a factor here, too. While a lot of the CBA fight was about the rich teams adding free agents, the deal’s biggest effect might be at the other end of the spending spectrum. The stingiest teams ought to be ready to join the bidding to add salaries here and there. That’s a win for small markets and for free agents.

LOSERS: The Portland Trail Blazers

The Blazers carry high salaries with a mediocre team, and we know for certain the GM has not spent the summer executing a new master plan. We know this because there is no GM. But common sense would suggest this team has to win a lot or change a lot, and one of its favorite tools of the past — outspending rivals — has grown trickier.

Glancing through magazines such as “Beautiful Home” or Architectural Digest” can be very intimidating at times.  The designs within the pages are jaw dropping and scream out to you, “I can be in your home too!”  The reality of the cost sets into your mind, yet the longing to see a room in your home transformed remains.  You do not have to spend your savings in order to design your home the way you desire.  There are several ways to cut corners and still achieve your show room look. The Campins Company has compiled a list to help create design ideas without breaking the bank!!!

- A fresh coat of paint will spruce up any room. Try a new color or bring out the drama by adding a rich red or a bright yellow to one wall in a room.

- Dramatize your light fixtures: Lighting plays a role in the mood of a room. You can bring an entire room into the modern age just by changing a light fixture. Do-it-yourself stores have a variety of stylish, affordable, lighting options.

- Add a stylish rug.  If you are looking to have a focus point in your room or wanted new floors; using a throw rug can help bring your room in and add a little pizzazz.

- Shift furniture around.  You will be amazed at how repositioning a chair or sofa can completely transform your room.

-Don’t get new furniture just buy new fabric. Upholstering your furniture is just as good as new furniture.  Play around with fabrics, patterns, and textures.  Have fun!

-Add a touch of green.  Plants can spruce up any room.  Try a single palm leaf or slender flax in a giant vase.  It has simple yet modern appeal.  In your kitchen, add a small herb garden to your windowsill to add life to the room.

-Play with architectural detail.  This can be done in a variety of ways. Using painter’s tape, you can paint horizontal or vertical lines, which can make the room look bigger. You can also make shapes like rectangles and squares, creating a box on the wall for framing out furniture, sconces or your favorite picture. With molding, you can give the illusion of added depth and dimension to the walls. Like painter’s tape, making a small box with molding can create a look that’s certainly classic.

-Try thrift stores.  There are a lot of gems in these stores. You can find antique or vintage furniture that may be that may that stand out piece that you have been looking for.

-Get your senses involved.  Aromatherapy candles, flowers, incense, etc can really create a serene atmosphere.

-Let go of clutter.  You will be surprised at how eliminating clutter can open up a room.

-Look into purchasing artwork. Try flea markets, auctions, business closings or sell-offs.  Artwork brings an element of culture to your room.

-Bring in the accessories.  Change drawer handles.  Change around picture frames.  Develop a small theme that speaks to your personality.  Think about what you want your room to represent and go for it!!!

Boarding plane:

-Two gentlemen in front of Me who appear to be Father (guesstimate 70’s) and Son (guesstimate 40′s).

I overhear conversation:

Father: When do we arrive in Miami?
Son: (With Frustration) “Dad, we are in Miami? Sigh. Do you not remember the carnival with your grandkids? The Zoo? The Park!!!?”
Father: (He ponders the question.) “Oh…. No, Son.”
Son: (Makes eye contact with me with despair in his eyes).
Me: I nod, signaling that I understood his feelings.
Father: “Son, so when do we get to Miami.”
Son: “We are on our way back to NYC Dad! We are boarding a flight to New York!”

It was clear to me his Father had Alzheimers.

They make their way to their respective seats.

During the flight, the Father gets up to use the restroom. He stands in front of the bathroom attempting to find the other arm of his jacket with great difficulty. He tries and tries to reach for it without any luck. At this point, everyone is staring at him but his Son is sleeping and doesn’t notice. I get out of my chair and help him put on his jacket. He turns to me and says, “Bless You Young Lady.”

I sit back down and my compassion for this gentleman moves me to tears. In an effort to hide my tears, I close my eyes and cover my ears with my headphones. 5 mins later I feel someone touching my arm so I look up and it’s the flight attendant asking me to put on my seatbelt. He is taken aback by the tears in my eyes and says with a voice of concern, “Are you ok?” I nod.

I found myself in deep thought & meditation the rest of the flight on why I exactly I was so overly emotional about what transpired. What was the root of it?

My Conclusion:
Ever since I was a child, I’ve always been moved in the presence of sickness, affliction, poverty, any living being in pain or suffering. I’ve always felt the weight of people’s pain down to my gut and been a staunch supporter of what you call the ‘under-dog’. You might say I’m a “people person”. At times in the past, I had wished that I didn’t feel these emotions as deeply as I do. But today, I understand and appreciate it is part of my journey. For my many shortcomings, I can say today that caring for people so very deeply is a blessing and I’m grateful. I share this message with you in an effort to spread the power of compassion. You never know whom you will touch. Surround yourself with those who reveal You to You.

How to cut back on monthly bills & keep more money in your pocket

Managing a household can become very expensive.  In our current economic climate, “savings” has become the name of the game.  Everyone is searching out various ways to conserve money and to become more financially conscious of excessive spending.  The Campins Company has consolidated several tips to assist you with trimming down your monthly  home bills so that you may gain rather than loose money at the end of the month.

- Create a budget:  Most people shy away from this process because they fear facing their finances.  They are embarrassed, ashamed, and continue to avoid the topic.  Let go of your fear!!!  Let go of shame!!!!  We all make mistakes!!! It takes courage to face yourself but the faster you do so, the faster you will see your entire life transform.  It is only when you know what you are working with that you can make changes.  Budgets are great and will help you examine what is coming in and going out.

- Bundle Your Services: Have Internet, phone and cable service? Move all of your accounts to one provider, and you could save $20 or more per month. Check your mail for bundling offer to find out which company is offering the best service bundle in your area; then make the switch and save.

- Cut Back on Extras: Examine your list of monthly expenses, and determine what you can live without – short term or long term.

- Shop Sales:  The extra time that it takes you look through the paper for sales and additional savings will pay off in the long run.

- Seek out cost effective insurance:  Do they offer a multi-line discount for customers with multiple policies? A good student discount? A good driver discount? For even more savings, consider increasing your deductible or canceling collision coverage on older vehicles. If you have homeowners or renters insurance, be sure to review those policies as well.

- Install a programmable thermostat: A programmable thermostat allows you to automatically alter the heating and cooling of your home when you’re not at home, when you’re asleep, and so on, saving significantly on your heating and cooling bills.Utilize timers and power strips: Along those lines, consider utilizing power strips and power timers to turn electrical devices on and off. A power strip with a switch on it, when turned off, blocks the phantom charge on those devices; a timer can automatically turn off the charge going to a power strip (or anything plugged into it) at a certain time each night. This is a great way to eliminate phantom charge on your home electronic equipment at night.

- Install a blanket for your hot water heater and reduce the temperature: In many homes, the hot water heater is a major energy drain; the water is kept hotter than most people ever use, plus the heat is constantly lost to the environment, meaning you have to burn more energy than ever to keep the water so hot. Solve both problems by dropping the temperature down to 125-130 degrees Fahrenheit (around 60 degress Celsius) and also installing a blanket on your water heater to keep in the heat – a blanket can pay for itself in about a year.

- Air seal your home:  Air sealing your home can prevent drafts, which can often cause the loss of cool air in the summer and the loss of warm air in the winter, both of which can increase your housing costs.

- Sign up for automatic debt repayment plans: Many installment plans, particularly those with student loans, offer an interest rate reduction if you sign up for an automatic plan. You should never pass these up – not only do they save money automatically each month, they’re also incredibly convenient. If you have any installment payments (particularly student loan debt), see if such an offer is available to you.

- Write out your grocery list: Purchase items on your list to avoid impulse shopping.

6,840,507,000 – The number of people inhabiting this wondrous world of ours.  Making it even more incredible is that fact that no two people are alike.  Just like Zebras, we all have different stripes. It is what makes us special and individualistic.  Every person has his/her OWN gifts to share with this world and it is up to each of us to become aware and appreciative of these gifts in order to use them to our benefit.   By exploring the blessings we have been given and delving further into developing them, we can grow and continuously become a better version of ourselves. Humans are ever-evolving creatures and as such the only place we need to look for answers is within.

I find it unimaginable when people try to mimic or be like someone else.  Whether the people you are trying to emulate possess similar gifts or not, the only way to truly attain all your greatest powers is by following the gifts YOU have been given.   A great example to think about is Art.  Art comes in myriad shapes and sizes and although the greatest artists share a similar gift, they use it in a divinely distinct way.  If it wasn’t for this, we wouldn’t have the GREATS Pablo Picasso, Van Gogh or Michelangelo. These men are only a few examples of the astounding results that can be attained when you follow your inner voice and maintain specific focus on your gifts.

Joseph Chilton Pearce once said, “To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong.”  This quote isn’t just about being creative or being wrong, it is about losing our FEAR period.  The gifts that God has given you are yours and no one else’s and you should never fear using those gifts, exploring those gifts or for that matter losing those gifts.   As such, fear not that these gifts can be taken from you, for those who chase or attempt to steal another’s gifts will only ride coattails.

“Fame”  – what is this illusion society is so obsessed with?  It seems everyone is chasing it, yet few know what it even means.  Fame is not a choice, it is a privilege, a gift of sorts.  One, that you may or may not be asking for or even want.

Why does society obsess with the famous, constantly in pursuit?  It seems everyone wants what these famous people have and in many cases even the famous seem to chase the famous.  Ironic, isn’t it?   It seems everyone wants to “BE” famous or “Attain” fame.   Yet standing STILL & embracing ONESELF is truly what is necessary.  Check Yourself.   Feel Your Own Vibrations & the Universe will deliver exactly what YOU need.

What is Fame anyway? Human Beings idolizing each other for what?  Never did understand it, when in truth, every man should be respected as an individual and no man idolized. Claudius Claudianus once said “The person who seeks all their applause from outside has their happiness in another’s keeping.”  And we all know popular applause veers with the wind.   There is a drive in me that won’t allow me to stop searching for the Oneness of our Existence as Human Beings. Now more than ever, I am doing things that are True to Me, Authentic. When we each are True to Ourselves, we Become what we are meant to Be & the World Becomes Alive.

Fame just for the sake of Fame seems all too common.  When you look at fame as a privilege you realize we have a duty to do something with that gift.  The word “I” is derived from the Ego.  Fame that is ego driven leads down a destructive path, fame that is derived from within, from a stillness and lightness can be used for surmountable good.  The chosen ones need to acknowledge their divine duty to the world that we live in, to help better the world we live in and to leverage their celebrity to leave a lasting Legacy.

If you focus on your passions, whether they be creating music, feeding the homeless or empowering our world, and in the process create a movement towards the betterment of society; your services will be acknowledged.  And now that is something worth being remembered for.

I am often amazed at the amount of time & energy that we spend attempting to be what we think the world wants us to BE.  Why are expectations more substantial than our authentic self.

Is it possible that although we have been exposed to myriad scenarios, we have not yet experienced intimacy, wholeness, and harmony with our true selves?  Isn’t it amazing how we may perceive instinctual insight with regards to others, yet we have a hard time trusting our own gut intuition in our daily life?  Why is this?  Could it be that we fear the outside criticism of others when it comes to acceptance of our true selves?  Is it that we fear the power and abilities that are held within our truth?

You have no idea how many times I am asked how I continue to uphold my integrity in the sports and entertainment arena.  I see this as a puzzling question.  Here is why: In the continuous journey of understanding my truth, I understand that to go against my true self would be to self destruct.  My integrity, my reputation are the bricks within my foundation.  To forsake the core of who I am would be to dishonor and disgrace a truth that I know is greater than myself.  Have I lost business deals because of my integrity?  Absolutely.  But what I have gained is far superior…. Inner Peace.  Priceless.  I wouldn’t trade a single thing for Inner Peace.  And by the way,  I can tell you that those deals and individuals I lost early in my career who left in an attempt to find a short cut, are also the very ones who came back after the “short cut” proved to be well… a longer road with many bumps (I call them lessons & wisdom) to the Truth.

I thank GOD for the blessing known as INTUITION - It is so apparent to me when someone is hiding behind a lie - from their demeanor and body language, to the very essence of their being.  Many times people confuse my kindness and peace for naiveness only to eventually find out I saw right through their façade.  Some have approached me to ask, “You knew I was ‘fibbing’ why didn’t you confront me about it?”  My answer:  I don’t tell people how to live their own lives.  I live mine and hope to inspire by example.  Besides, that’s their own personal journey and part of that journey involves valuable lessons along the way.  I can’t take that Wisdom from them.  I’m not God. At times I am surprised at how long they go on with the lies believing that they are fooling others, when the only person they are hurting is themselves.  You can’t hide behind a lie.  Time always reveals the Truth.  You can’t find Truth in a Lie, yet so many spin their wheels in the pursuit.  And for what?  I get exhausted just thinking about the energy it takes to keep up with these lies. Lying to others is just the starting line of the problem.  What makes it worse is that people end up lying to themselves in order to feel better about the situation at hand. So the lies become their reality. Don’t become a victim of your lies… they imprison you.  You could only pose for so long and eventually, you will forget the pose.

If you take the time to ponder several lies that you’ve been told by others, it becomes quite clear that there is one core reason at the root of all dishonesty.  That reason is fear.  You may think there are plenty of other reasons:  greed, shame, unfairness, cowardice, insecurity, guilt.  But guess what… Fear of Fear is still at the core.

We have too many “intermediaries” to our own happiness… Self help books and guru’s to empower us to lead a life of happiness and joy.  We will read books, listen to tapes, attend seminars and still walk void and disconnected from the happiness that we seek.  Not realizing or even willing to comprehend that the joy that we seek lies dormant within our own spirit, our authentic self.  A person can never be happy or content, posing as a fraud to SELF.  Happiness is obtained when one lets go of the fears of what others think.  The agenda is not filled with bullet points of how to please the minds of other people, who coincidentally may not have truly even identified who they are  to themselves.  Do these folks we are trying to impress respect their own truth.  Are they loyal to it? What we all fail to realize is that when we are constantly concerned with how others view us, we conform to someone else’s truth, we forget who we truly are and what matters most in our lives.  We begin to live a life not meant for us, causing inner dissension and chaos.  Happiness does not come following a path outside of your own.  Happiness comes when we accept the importance of the path meant specifically for us to walk.  Self acceptance is key.

Compassion is vital in my life. Compassion allows you to live inside someone else’s skin.  It is a knowledge that allows you to feel people’s  joy as well as their pain.  The evangelistic sense to feel things about others at your core.  We all have the ability, we just have to be Still and then dig deep within ourselves.  Honesty, truth, and integrity are priceless and always prevail.  When you honor your truth, blessings and opportunity are sure to follow.

It’s generally believed that like attracts like, so those who do not value authenticity will drift away and those who enjoy being real will be drawn to your magnificence.  It is really that simple. Dare to be you.  Dare to live in your truth.  Dare to be authentically YOU.

This week’s announcement of the Obama Administration’s plan to bring relief to millions of struggling homeowners has garnered much attention.  There is overwhelming concern if the new plan will in fact assist those families who have been hit the hardest during the economic crisis.  The announcement also brought to light the realistic state of the real estate market.  The rallies of Occupy America discussing the 1 percent vs. the 99 percent has validity showcasing the clear divide between the luxury real estate markets versus the rest of the market.  There is an alarming observation of unequal activity amongst both.  Normally, these two segments of the housing market rise and fall together. But now, they’re moving in opposite directions.

I am often asked, how the real estate market is doing.  My reply is that it depends on the luxury market and the activity of the rest of the market.  The luxury market is doing quite well despite the continual downfall of the real estate market that is reported.  The trace of a recession is fading and sales and prices are rising. The sale of luxury homes has risen 0.7 since February.  The wealthy are taking advantage of reduced or slashed prices.  International buyers are also joining in the game of American real estate. As they expand business by purchasing stagnant or washed up companies as investments for profit turn around, they are also purchasing real estate in all-cash bidding wars. The Campins Company has sold 5 properties and earned 3 listings this week alone!  International clients bought $82 billion worth of U.S. residential real estate last year, up from $66 billion in 2009. In states like Florida, international buyers account for a third of purchases, up from 10 percent in 2007.   The Campins Company Luxury Real Estate has seen an increase in property sales in Miami, New York City, Seattle, Los Angeles, and North Carolina.  Our clientele are either relocating or looking to expand their real estate portfolio.  The market has become a playground for the wealthy as they “bargain” hunt and strike deals on amazing properties.  So far this year, we have sold over $150 MM in sales without counting all the deals currently in escrow, and we are a small, boutique firm.

Take, for instance Detroit, which has suffered tremendously from the recession. A recovering auto industry is propelling high end sales.  Detroit is at the genesis of what is being called a re-birth due to the interest of international entrepreneurs and financiers who want to become a part of the city’s renaissance.  In struggling cities such as Detroit, entrepreneurs understand that the economic shift will return to profitability when the economy begins to make its turn.  This is the advantage of the wealthy.  The issue remains, what happens to the mom and pop business owners who are struggling to retain the business and their property?  This is the effect of the real estate market. On one hand you have progress.  On the other you have destruction.

The problem is that the buying and selling activity within the 1 percent of the population is not enough to fuel the housing industry or the economic recovery. The renewed vitality in the comparatively small market for luxury homes is not enough to steer the ship in another direction.  Although mortgage rates are at their lowest in recent decades, banks are not approving loans to anyone who has less than perfect credit.  This presents a hardship to the average American who has experienced financial distress due to the job market and economy. Almost a quarter of American homeowners owe more on their house than it’s worth. Another quarter has less than 20 percent equity. How is it possible for them to keep their homes, let alone become participants in the playground of real estate?  Most homeowners who attempt to sell have had their homes on the market for a year or more in attempts to find a suitable buyer.  Not only are they battling a slow, unstable market but they are forced to reduce the price of their home, possibly not receiving a purchase price high enough to pay off their bank note at time of sale.  The average American doesn’t have the cash to come to the closing table, whereas the wealthy may not like to take a low sale price for their house, but generally they can come to the closing table with enough cash to pay off the difference between their sale price and what they owe to the bank.  Again, another example in the tale of two Americas.

There is no win-win situation.  Although the luxury real estate market is booming, it has little to no effect on the overall condition of the real estate market.  There is a great divide.  There are almost two separate markets occurring at one time, when in fact it will take both markets to progress at a steady almost equal pace for the housing market and the economic climate to see progress.

Why are so many successful women single?

“I am woman hear me roar in numbers too big to ignore and I know too much too much to go back an’ pretend.  Cause I’ve heard it all before and I’ve been down there on the floor and no one’s ever gonna keep me down again. If I have to, I can do anything. I am strong.  I am invincible. I am woman.”  These words written by Helen Reddy in the 1970’s ignited great zest in the female population to claim their independence apart from their male counterparts and to be fully recognized for the power, creativity, and wonder that is woman. Women are amazing creatures! Although we have further ground to cover, we have made great strides in so many societal arenas. However, I question if we have chocked ourselves with strength when it comes to the affairs of the heart.

A constant conversation that I engage in is one centered on the question of why successful women remain single.  You can imagine the debates that flare up between the two genders when this topic is discussed.  The two perspectives could not be farther away from each other. The biggest obstacle I notice time and time again is simply the disconnect in communication between Men and Women.  My belief is that this lack of communication stems from their respective fears, fear of vulnerability… Many of my female peers state that they are single because it is extremely hard to find a man that can ‘handle’ a strong woman passionate about her career and what she wants out of life.  (I smile as I write that line because I used to be that 20 year old woman on the top of a mountain screaming about my independence.  ”I don’t need a Man.”  lol   I’m no longer that woman. Now rather, I embrace my femininity, I’m soft, gentle and do desire a Man to be a Man.  I want to be protected, fought for and unconditionally loved by a Man.  I want a Man to take control. As the saying goes: “Immature love says: ‘I love you because I need you.’ Mature love says: ‘I need you because I love you.”) My male peers state that successful women are alone because men refuse to fight for power, and they don’t feel needed. A successful woman does not know how to shut off business. She does not know how to be a woman, how to be soft and vulnerable.  How to allow a Man to be a Man.  These Men want a beauty to rescue, an adventure to be had and they need to be needed. A Man is not a construction project, but so many woman enter a relationship with a plan to ‘fix’ him, rescue him when the Man is the one who desires to rescue. You see how the views rest at the opposite ends of the spectrum?

As a younger woman, my thought process stood in agreement to that of many women who have an opinion on the topic.  I believed that I had to honor the banner of female independence by forcing equality into my relationships; misunderstanding the concept altogether not realizing that the equality that I desired had nothing to do with gender but with the sanctity of love.  I fought for the position of power in my relationships.  There was no need for him to open the door, I had it.  In discussions, I was combative. I had to be the dominating voice; I was not going to be silenced.  I worked entirely too hard professionally to take a back seat in my personal life.  I screamed to be acknowledged as an equal partner.  I approached relationships as I approached business deals.  I operated with the mindset to conqueror and not to be conquered.  I was so hell bent into demanding that my partner acknowledge that I was capable and qualified to be seated across from him, that I lost sight of the position that I was too play.  I gave the appearance that I had everything together, that I left the man in my life void of any feeling that I had need for him.  He was a luxury and not a necessity.  I was suffocated by the smoke I created running and competing in a race only to find that I crossed a finish line alone.  Or did I really cross it at all?

After realizing patterns of failed relationships, I had to endure the painful process of holding up the mirror to expose MY flaws. The love, the relationship that I craved, seemed unobtainable.  How could this be?  I am a successful woman.  My thought was that most men would love to be with a woman who was independent, successful, and could acquire the things that she needed on her own.  It was more permissive to blame failed relationships on the idea that that men could not handle my success but it was time for me to grow up, take ownership and accountability as to why love would find me but not stay with me.  The answer that came to me after all of my introspective thought was that I forgot to just be a woman.  I overcomplicated the entire journey.  I continued to get in my own way, again and again. The identity that I was screaming for in my relationships, I forgot to honor myself. How ironic.  It’s funny how we lose sight of what we are fighting for to begin with.  I lost sight of my identity as a woman.  There is a divine order in place and because I was acting out of position, I could not receive what is a divine birthright… Love.

Ladies, I question how we have all come to the place where we fight against what we need.  This is crazy to me! Men and women cannot exist without each other.  We are the DNA of the universe.  We need one another for survival.  But we’ve attempted to flip the script so much, we end up in a state of utter confusion. Have we lost the respect of power of being a woman?  Often times, I hear negative remarks from women when reference is made to 1960’s time period. We use this time period to showcase how far we have come from washing clothes, cooking dinner, to running companies and having top credentials.  However, I think that we have missed out on some of the key elements that those women possessed.  The women of yesteryear carried with them an undescribable aura of elegance.  There was softness in their movements. Calmness exuded from their touch.  Power and passion was felt from the words that were spoken from their lips.  Stillness. They understood their position and played it very well.  They knew that control rests in their bodies, in their hands, and in their minds, but never abused it.  I laugh when I think about how I demanded to be in a position that I  already had.  There is something wonderful about quiet strength, quiet confidence.  Is it possible that we can return to the embrace of being soft?  You are not looking for the characteristics of a woman when you desire to be in relationship with a man.  Ladies, have we become the Men we want? Why would you expect a man to compete with a woman in a relationship who is attempting to demonstrate his characteristics?  A Man wants a Woman.  It’s simple!  You can retain your professional identity and have a successful relationship. You don’t have to sacrifice being a woman for being professional.

Understand that love is the goal.  Outside of all of the accomplishments and successes, you want to come home to feel secure, safe, and loved unconditionally in the arms of the person that you love.  Of all the journeys that we travel through life, the common journey is one where love is the final destination.  We must have a willingness to adhere to the divine rules of love in order to acquire it.  Ladies, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being vulnerable.  Trust that the man that is deserving enough to experience the authentic woman that you are, will be brave enough to love you for you.  This is what we crave.  This is the desire that runs through our veins. In our truth, we would take true authentic pure love over anything else that we could acquire in this world. That’s real talk.  Stop fighting against your authentic self.  Allow the tension to be released from your back.  Remove the harsh tone from your voice.  Lighten your walk.  Allow yourself to be adored and admired as a woman.  Allow the man in your life to be a man to you.  Do not deny him of his manhood.  He is to protect, love, conqueror, and elevate.  Let him be!

For my male peers who desire for us to return to our natural state of being, you must be the man that we need. A man of your word.  Many times, men become caught in physical desires that they have for women without realizing that the brain is the most sexual organ.  The brain is where we mentally consume you. Before you take residence in our hearts, you have to become attached to our minds, you must become intangled in the web of our thoughts. The brain is where the love story begins.  Sexy, isn’t it?  This is why we can fully convey our feelings for you because the script was processed in our minds and approved by the heart.  The brain is your point of entry before any other part on our bodies.  The woman that you crave, you desire, will emerge if you make love to her mind…..  You may see us as complex and we are, but there is one key that opens all the doors within us…our brain.  If you seduce our minds, you can have our bodies, if you find our souls, we are yours forever.  Trust!!!!!  Be willing to explore, become lost, conqueror, and experience the wonder that we are…woman.

I don’t think that any of us want to forever hold the banner of single and successful. All things have a season to begin and end.  Measure your definition of success.  We will fail at many things in our lives, relationships, projects, business, but we want to become successful at life.  The process of learning and growing, being and becoming. Question who you are at this moment?  Do you have true success?  Do you have true happiness in your relationship?  Are you masking professional success for what you naturally desire?  Have you traded the essence of who you are for what it is that you THINK you want to be?  Allow your introspective mirror to expose you to you.  Then and only then, will you receive the answers that you need to create true success.

The Bravest thing a Man can do is Love a Woman.  The Bravest thing a Woman can do is Allow Herself to be Loved, Vulnerability.

Remember, You will never know Love unless You Surrender to it…. ;-]
